FROG BENCH FARMSTEAD

Frog Bench Farmstead is an urban farm growing on 4.5 acres in the heart of Garden City Utah. We are proud to share fresh, nutritious seasonal produce year-round to local restaurants and markets in our neighborhood. We are driven to create delicious and sustainable food, nourish our land and local community, and share what we grow and learn along the way.

Paula and Joe Sargetakis are not new to urban farming. They established Frog Bench Farms (FBF) in Salt Lake City in 2012, where they now support 22 restaurants, host an annual plant sale, and participate in both the Winter Farmers Market and the Summer Farmers Market. Currently, FBF grows a large variety of fruits, vegetables, herbs, edible flowers, and microgreens. In addition, they produce secondary and value-added products using what they grow on site, including dried herbs, freeze-dried fruits and vegetables, wine vinegar from grapes grown on site, hydrosols, and fresh and dried flower bouquets. Visitors are encouraged to explore Frogbenchfarms.com to see what they have accomplished.

A Message From Paula

Joe and I fell in love with Bear Lake in 1988. We were lucky enough to have an opportunity in 1990 to purchase a lot on the lake just 1.2 miles from downtown Garden City. We built a year-round home and settled into our new space in December of 1992, creating countless cherished memories for our family and friends across three generations.

Because of these fond memories, we began looking for property to purchase in order to preserve some of the aspects of Garden City we love most. Our children walked down to the General Store where Linda spoiled them, and we celebrated Raspberry Days together, enjoying the parade, rodeo, and dance. We have always loved the farming and nature that surround the area, and we looked forward each year to my brother and his family coming up to take part in the raspberry U-Pick. We treasure the many lake adventures we have shared, as well as hiking in and around Bear Lake and Logan Canyon.

With this project, our desire is to preserve farming history and farmland, support education for students, locals, and tourists, and encourage sharing what we do and learn with others. We hope to create an experience for people when they are not on the lake, and to nurture and nourish the local economy.

We look forward to you joining us on this journey.

CREATE

At our farm, we strive to steward our land with sustainability at our core. Utilizing practices such as solar power, water collection, compost, and beneficial insects, we grow healthful veggies, greens, fruits, microgreens, and herbs. We also create new and beautiful Secondary Products from our fresh goods, from herbal infusions to decorative wreaths to wine-vinegars and more.

NOURISH

As a small, diversified farm, we focus on sharing the highest quality produce and secondary products. We are proud to grow in soil all year round, ensuring our food has that delicious and nutritious bite. All our products are processed in our UDAF (Utah Department of Agriculture and Food) approved kitchen, and we never add any inorganic additives/chemicals in our growing and processing practices. We love to eat what we grow and create, and we want you to feel good doing the same.

SHARE

We are proud to share our products with local restaurant partners and farmers markets. Nothing brings us more joy than the connections we form with chefs and market customers! Education is also something we deeply value, and we welcome opportunities to share our practices with school groups and local organizations. We are thrilled to be part of the ever-evolving, passionate food community here in Garden City.
